Book launch: Zürich Nord
22.07.2022In his contribution to the new book “Zürich Nord” that launched last week, Kees Christiaanse evaluates the large-scale urban plans of the past 20 years. In an international comparison, he praises the high diversity of uses within these developments.
"In contrast to many large-scale projects in other Swiss cities and abroad, the three neighbourhoods are characterised by a relatively high mix of uses -from the beginning- further reinforced by excellent public transport connections. High-quality open spaces such as the MFO Park, Oerliker Park, Louis Häfliger Park and Traugott Wahlen Park in Neu-Oerlikon, the Leutschen Park and Hunziker Square in Leutschenbach, as well as the Glattpark Lake and Opfiker Park -in combination with clear street structures- form a solid framework for future, low-asphalt, transformations."
