Over the last five years, KCAP and ABT bv have worked together in commission of Allianz Real Estate, to transform the 19th-century neo-Renaissance Droogbak building in the very heart of Amsterdam. The focal point was to create a future-proof monument that meets contemporary demands of the 21st-century work environment and the environment at large.

Our transformation concept focuses on enlarging and reactivating the central atrium in line with new ways of working. Bay windows and balconies have been introduced to strengthen the inter-level relations, the overall indoor climate had been improved and the restaurant is now directly connected to the overall office activities. The combined interventions have reshaped Droogbak into a perfect fusion of past and present. Construction was carried out by Heijmans.

Fokkema & Partners Architecten designed the interiors for tenant Clifford Chance Amsterdam who, after 20 years, could move back into their transformed yet contemporary office. More to follow soon!
