Köln-Kreuzfeld, team led by KCAP chosen for the second round

We are happy to share that our team consisting of KCAP (Zurich), Realace (Berlin), Ramboll Studio Dreiseitl (Überlingen), Fugmann Janotta und Partner (Berlin) and Happold Ingenieurbüro (Berlin) has made it to the second round of the Köln-Kreuzfeld urban design competition.

Kreuzfeld is a new district to be built in the north of Cologne. Last Thursday, the jury reviewed the designs of six international teams of urban designers, architects, and landscape architects and selected three designs to be further elaborated. Köln’s Lord Mayor Henriette Reker says: ”With the new Kreuzfeld district, we are creating a livable, mixed and green quarter that will attract attention beyond the region.”

Our proposal "Kreuzfelder Stadt-Natur" uses the existing green corridors running from north to south to structure the urban plan with diverse open spaces into four neighbourhoods. We are entering the next round with the teams led by Adept from Copenhagen and Rheinflügel Severin from Düsseldorf. On 27 November 2021, there will be a public forum for the second phase of the competitive dialogue with the presentation. On 11 December, the best design among these finalists will be selected for the elaboration of the framework plan in 2022. Stay tuned!
