Design Piekstraat tower approved

The aesthetic building commission (Commissie Welstand en Monumenten Rotterdam) has given green light for the design of the residential tower on the tip of Piekstraat.

Piekstraat is a unique location. Old factories, industrial warehouses and robust cranes characterise the area and have inspired the design of the building. With stacked volumes that recall harbour containers and materialised in brick, steel and glass, the building refers with its robust appearance to this special surrounding. It offers space for more than 130 apartments and responds with a wide range of housing types to the diversity of lifestyles and housing needs in Rotterdam. A cafe or restaurant on ground floor and a vivid open space around the tower will give an impulse for the liveliness of the area.
