Model Cruquiuseiland exhibited in 'Close to Reality', Zuiderkerk Amsterdam

KCAP's Cruquiuseiland model is part of the exhibition 'Close to Reality' in Amsterdam.

More than 60 scale models offer a holistic view of a number of metropolitan developments and challenges in Amsterdam that will be addressed in the coming decades. Sometimes close by, sometimes as an exploration of possible futures. From the region to the individual building.

Cruquiuseiland, located in the Eastern port of Amsterdam, will transform from an industrial area into a mixed urban quarter for living and working. KCAP designed the southeast part of the peninsula that is located on the border between of the Amsterdam-Rijnkanaal and the Nieuwe Vaart with a mixed urban program. The project is developed by AM.

'Close to Reality' was compiled by the City of Amsterdam in collaboration with Architecture Centre Amsterdam and is taking place during WeMakeThe.City, the festival that makes cities better.
