Irma van Oort


Irma van Oort studied architecture at the Technical University of Delft. She graduated in 1991, with her graduation project being nominated for the Archiprix Award. During her studies and after graduation she worked for various architectural offices, among which were UN Studio Amsterdam, Roelf Steenhuis Architecten Delft and Architecten Cie Amsterdam.

In 1992, Irma joined KCAP and was appointed partner in 1998. She works on complex national and international architecture, urban and landscape projects. Her work range includes various kinds of mixed-use programs, mostly in complex inner-city locations and focuses on sustainable living environments with social sustainability as the key. Irma has extensive experience with residential projects of all scales, ranging from student housing to care units, social rent to high end residences. She specialises in transformation projects, some of which historic monuments. The development of a sustainable vision for the building and the environment is key to her work.

As tutor and lecturer, Irma is involved in various national and international educational programs such as at TU Delft and the Tongjij University Shanghai. She is member of the ‘Commissie Welstand en Monumenten Rotterdam’ (External quality advisory committee to the municipality of Rotterdam) and the advisory committee of Europan NL.
