The Aeschbachquartier Aarau by KCAP is the first Swiss neighbourhood to be awarded the DGNB Gold certificate! The project completed in 2020 is a sustainable, mixed use quarter in Aarau at half an hour from Zurich. With its characteristic transformation of industrial heritage buildings and ‘gartenstadt’ typologies, it offers diverse spaces with a high quality of stay. The inhabitants are involved in an ongoing participative process to ensure increased acceptance and identification.

The DGNB (German Sustainable Building Council) certification consistently considers factors along the neighborhood's entire life cycle. In addition to ecological factors, it also assesses the construction, planning, and socio-cultural characteristics of a development project. The evaluation process also includes location, mobility, energy supply, quality of stay, and social mix.

We are proud that our joint effort with Mobimo, as the quarter’s ambitious developer, has been acknowledged with the prestigious DGNB Gold certificate, recognizing Aeschbachquartier Aarau as a truly sustainable neighbourhood!
