Central Bussines District Beijing [CN]

The Masterplan for the central area of the Beijing CBD was commissioned by the City Planning Committee of Beijing and the CBD Development Committee in order to review and develop an existing plan for the 34ha site with a density of FAR 7,0. Prominently located at the junction of 3rd Ring Road and Jianguomen, the main east-west axis of Beijing, just south of CCTV. The area has not undergone any recent building activity and is planned to become the heart of the wider CBD area in Chaoyang. The team established masterplan principles and guidelines for the development of several identities within the CBD core. Designs for the central open space illustrate the potential of the site to become an attractive CBD that competes with the most prominent business locations globally while creating a lively district for Beijing itself.
