Hochparterre special: planning city regions

The Swiss magazine Hochparterre publishes a special about 'Planning Cities' related to the symposium 'Strategies and Planning Instruments for Polycentric City Regions' which took place on April 4th in Zurich. The magazine was edited in collaboration with Kees Christiaanse and his Chair for architecture and urban planning at ETH Zurich.

'Amsterdam and Zurich are metropolitan regions under pressure of growth. How could their spatial development be guided in a useful and efficient way? This edition provides answers to this question based on theory and practice of city planning. For the first time, two diagrams of ETH Zurich give an overview of the planning systems of those two regions. Examples illustrate how strategies and instruments of urban planning are applied and further developed. Reports and interviews explore the completely different planning cultures of both regions.'
