KCAP transforms Bordeaux's industrial right bank

06 May 2011

The City of Bordeaux, France, has appointed KCAP for an urban study on the site of Bastide Brazza-Nord, a 120ha former industrial area between the river Garonne and an abandoned railway. The soon to be completed Bacalan bridge will bring a new connection between the historical Unesco-classified left bank and the right bank, long dedicated to heavy chemical and shipping industry. The site strategy will combine new urban mixed-use development, re-use of abandoned infrastructures together with an integrated environmental approach regarding ground pollutions and flood risk. The urban project is due to be completed in february 2012, and allow rapid operational developments.
