Han van den Born as keynote speaker at Moscow Urban Forum

05 December 2011

Russian cities today are on the brink of change. The gap between contemporary global trends in the development of urban environments and local Russian practices diminishes the attractiveness of Russian cities for its inhabitants, tourists, and investors. This gap has a negative impact on the competitiveness of the Russian economy.

Beginning in the second half of the twentieth century, the discipline of urban design and development became an exciting and intricate synthesis of human endeavors. A modern city is a complex structure of interrelated elements. To address the issues of the modern city, one must step away from a narrow, industry-specific approach, and take a broader strategic approach to them.

The goal of the Moscow Urban Forum is to facilitate the development of cities in Russia and the territories of the former Soviet Union, and to bring their competitive edge to the foreground.
Han van den Born will be one of the keynote speakers about urban developments at the forum. Click here for more information.
